Zebra blinds that give you light and privacy

One shade that does
the work of two

The fabric is woven as bands — sheer, solid, sheer, solid. Rolling the shade a few inches slides the solid bands over the sheer ones, so the same window can filter afternoon glare at 4pm and close to full privacy at 9pm.

Bands aligned
Open view, filtered light Sheer sits over sheer. You keep the view and the daylight, minus the glare and roughly half the heat gain.
Bands closed
Closed bands, full privacy Solid meets solid. Sightlines close from the street while the shade stays fully down and the room stays soft, not dark.

01 Heat and glare Sheer bands cut the worst of a west-facing afternoon without turning the room into a cave.
02 Fade-tested fabrics Every fabric we stock is rated for high UV exposure, so bands stay the color you chose.
03 Dust and wipe-clean Woven polyester sheds dust and takes a damp cloth — practical for kitchens and kids.
04 Quiet operation Balanced tubes and clutch mechanisms that don't rattle when the AC kicks on.

We wanted to keep the view of the backyard but stop the glare. The zebra shades do exactly that, and the remote for the tall ones was worth every dollar.

Arcadia talked us out of zebra blinds in the nursery and into blackout cellular instead. Honest advice sold us on the rest of the house.

Eleven windows across two floors, one visit, bands lined up perfectly on every single shade. That's the part I'd have got wrong myself.

What exactly are zebra blinds? +

A roller shade whose fabric alternates sheer and solid bands. Rolling it a few inches slides the bands past one another, taking the window from open view to full privacy without raising the shade. You may also see them called dual, day-night or banded shades.

How much do they cost in DFW? +

Most homeowners spend $210–$520 per window installed, depending on width and fabric. Motorization adds roughly $180 per shade. Your price is fixed once we measure.

Are zebra blinds private at night? +

With the bands closed they block direct sightlines, but a brightly lit room can still show silhouettes. For bedrooms we recommend a room-darkening fabric, or a blackout roller paired on the same bracket.

Can they be motorized? +

Yes, on every fabric we carry — rechargeable or hardwired, with remote, app and voice control through Alexa, Google Home or HomeKit.

Do they work on patio doors? +

A single shade spans up to about 118 inches. Wider openings are split into two or three shades on a shared headrail so the bands stay aligned across the whole run.
